The International Orchestra Festival and Competition “ Golden Sardana ” 2023 Barcelona , Lloret de Mar , is held from 12/09/2023 to 17/09/2023 in Barcelona and Lloret de Mar –tourist capital of Costa Brava.

The International Orchestra Festival and Competition Golden Sardana is an international competition with various categories for orchestras dividided in different sections:
GroupA : brass orchestras,
Group B : string orchestras and the symphonic orchestras
GROUP C: other orchestras
The orchestras have the possibility to participate on the International Orchestra Festival and competition Golden Sardana, but without participating on the contest.
The competition is intended for brass ,string and other orchestras, with the following music categories:
Category A: free concert program
Category B: Show Marching Band Category (only brass orchestras)
Category C: Best Sardana perform *- Traditional Catalan Music (this category is intended for non Catalan orchestras)
Category D: Majorettes
PRIZES
The orchestras will by assessed by one International Jury.
Prizes in each of the two categories and three groups: 1st place 2nd place 3rd place golden diplomas, silver diplomas, bronze diplomas. The Jury can award exceptional prizes for special performances.

The jury may award a maximum of 100 points for each orchestra, as follows:
95,01-100,00: Outstanding
85,01-95,00: Excellent
80,01-85,00: Very Good
75,01-80,00: Good
60,01-75,00: Moderate
According to the mark achieved, Bronze, Silver and Gold and Excellent Gold Diplomas will be awarded. If the orchestra does not achieve a Diploma (mark under 60,01) it will receive a certificate of participation.

REGISTRATION
The orchestras are kindly asked to send application form. When submitting an entry form you must include a short bio of the Orchestra (max. 1200 characters, spaces included) and a high quality digital picture of the Orchestra.

The groups selected must confirm their application by e-mail as soon as possible, and will then receive a circular giving all further details.
Registration fee : 150 Euro per orchestra. The entrance fee of 150 eur(per orchestra) allows the participation in all categories of music ( without paying extra for participating in each competition category ).

-15.09.2021 - free day ,possibility of the organization Boat trip Mediterranean to medieval town of Tossa de Mar(optional), additional outdoor Concerts in Lloret de Mar
-16.09.2022- concerts in Barcelona , trip to Barcelona and visit of Barcelona
-17.092022- awards ceremony, final event for all particpants
-18.09.2022- departure from the hotel

“ Golden Sardana” 2023 includes categories :
A -free concert program
B- Show Marching Band Category
C- the best Sardana perform
D-Majorettes
The same competing may participate in three categories, if it wish.
Category A
free concert program

maximum total duration of programme 15 minutes
Category B
Show Marching Band Category
The performance time duration in this category during the competition day must be between 9 and 15 minutes. Entry and exit are not judged. The time keeping starts when the first music notes sound or the first movements are made after the speaker has given the “start the show”- sign.
Total time on the field must not exceed 20 minutes (this includes: setup + take down)
-Participants may use their own field markers and are responsible to place and remove them within the same permitted field time allotted to all performing ensembles.
-When a group is in starting position within the performance area ready to begin, their conductor/drum major should salute the Jury President with an acoustic or visual signal.
-Time starts when the first band sound is heard after the jury president has given the start sign to the group.
-Time keeping stops when the drum major has given a clear sign that the adjudicated part of the show has ended.
On score of 100 points:
-Show design and drill: 40 points
-Interpretation, music to drill: 30 points
-Musical aspects, balance, tuning : 30 points
Category C
the best interpretation of Sardana
This category is intended for non Catalan orchestras.
Organizers will provide to orchestras score sheets with the Sardana’s notation on them.
Every orchestra perform one sardana.
GENERAL
The Jury’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding any aspect of its decision.
Broadcasting and Recording Rights
It is a condition of participation that any orchestra must agree:
a) that any performance it gives during the Festival may be broadcast live and/or recorded for subsequent broadcast on radio and/or television without payment to the orchestra. All broadcasting rights to any performance at the Festival shall belong to the Festival which will be free to dispose of them as it sees fit.
